Terms of Service
Neon Grid (“the game”, “the service”) is a free multiplayer racing game that runs in your browser. It is operated by the person or people who run this website (“we”, “us”). By opening the game, joining a room or pressing READY you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Who may play
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age at which you can agree to terms like these where you live, whichever is higher. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should have agreed to these terms on your behalf. There are no accounts and no sign-up; what you choose to be called is up to you, within the rules below.
2. Playing fair and playing nice
You agree not to:
- use a callsign that is abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, impersonates someone else, or claims to be staff, a moderator or the game itself;
- harass, threaten or demean other players, through the quick-chat lines or by any other means;
- modify the game client, send crafted messages to the room servers, automate play, or otherwise gain an advantage the other cars on the grid do not have;
- flood, probe, overload or otherwise interfere with the service or with other players’ use of it;
- use the service for anything unlawful where you are.
The room servers filter callsigns, limit message rates and remove idle or abusive connections automatically. We may also remove any player from any room, or block access to the service, at any time and without notice, if we believe these terms have been broken. There is nothing to lose but a place on a grid.
3. What you get
The service is provided free of charge, as is, and as available. We do not promise that it will be available at any particular time, that rooms will be free of lag or disconnections, that leaderboards will be preserved, or that any feature will keep working the way it does today. We may change, suspend or shut down the game, or any part of it, at any time. Leaderboards, personal bests and room state may be reset without warning.
4. Your content
The only content you contribute is your callsign, your choice of car and colour, your race times and the quick-chat lines you pick from a fixed list. You grant us permission to show these to other players and on the leaderboards, for as long as they are kept. You may not submit anything you do not have the right to use.
5. Our content
The game, its code, its generated worlds and its visual design are ours or our licensors’. The source code is published under the licence stated in its repository; that licence governs the code, and these terms govern the hosted service.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us to use it, which is nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Health
The game shows fast-moving, brightly lit and flashing imagery. A small number of people may experience seizures or discomfort from such imagery. If you feel unwell, stop playing. The “reduce motion” setting of your device is honoured and trims camera motion and effects.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top is the version in force. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the changed terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the operator of this website is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be heard by the courts there, unless the law where you live gives you protections that cannot be waived.
10. Contact
Questions about these terms, or reports of abuse, can be raised through the project’s issue tracker at github.com/theoatrix/neonracer-multi.
