Effective 9 September 2026 · Terms of Service

Neon Grid is a free browser game with no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. This page says exactly what passes through it and where it goes. The short version: the game keeps your callsign and preferences in your own browser, shares your callsign and car with the other players in your room while you are in it, and keeps fast race times on a leaderboard under the callsign you chose. That is all.

What is stored in your browser

The game uses your browser’s local storage (not cookies) to remember, on your device only: your callsign, your chosen colour and car, your settings (volume, units, detail level and the like), your personal best times, and recorded “ghost” runs for practice. Nothing in local storage is sent anywhere except as described below. You can clear it at any time through your browser’s site-data controls, and the game works without it.

What is sent to the room server

While you are connected to a room, your browser sends the room server:

Room state is held in memory for the life of the room and discarded when the last player leaves. Positions are never stored. The connection itself carries your IP address, as every internet connection does; it is used to deliver the service and is not recorded by the game. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may keep standard connection logs for security and operations under its own policies.

Leaderboards

When you finish a race, your callsign, time, car, colour and room code may be placed on a leaderboard for that kind of race and shown to other players. All-time boards keep the twenty fastest times; daily boards are discarded after a few days. Because there are no accounts, a callsign on a board is not tied to you in any other way, and anyone may use any permitted callsign. If you want a time removed, contact us as below.

What is not collected

No email address, no name beyond the callsign you type, no account, no payment details, no advertising identifiers, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics, no fingerprinting. The game loads no third-party scripts or fonts.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Since the only personal data is a self-chosen callsign, we ask that younger players choose one that does not identify them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal data about you. The only such data we hold outside your own browser is leaderboard entries under your callsign; ask and we will remove them. Everything else is under your control in your browser.

Changes

We may update this policy; the effective date at the top is the version in force.

Privacy questions and removal requests can be raised through the project’s issue tracker at github.com/theoatrix/neonracer-multi.
